Car bumpers are mainly made of polypropylene plastic and are distributed at the front and rear ends of the vehicle. When a break occurs, you can repair it according to the following steps:
1. Open the hood and understand how to disassemble the bumper. The disassembly methods for different models may vary.
2. Align the cracks in the bumper and fix it with transparent tape to prevent the cracks from deforming during the repair process.
3. Turn on the soldering iron, turn the bumper over, and check the cracks inside. After the soldering iron reaches a suitable temperature, fix it along the crack direction.
4. Use a plastic welding gun and the prepared welding rod to weld along the crack. Remove the transparent tape used to fix the crack before, and use the soldering iron to reinforce the crack again.
5. Use coarse sandpaper to grind the welding parts and the areas that need to be repainted. After grinding flat, apply putty and let it dry. Then, use wet sandpaper to grind from coarse to fine until smooth, rinse and wipe dry. Wait for it to dry completely before painting.
6. Shake the spray paint evenly before spraying, and maintain a spray distance of 7-8 inches and a certain angle for spraying. Wait for about 15 minutes after each spray, and spray 5-6 times in total. After spraying the color paint, spray the clear coat to show the gloss of the vehicle paint. If the clear coat is not sprayed well, it may result in insufficient gloss, wavy lines, horizontal ripples or bubbles. After drying for several hours, the bumper can be installed back in place.
